Perhaps this Andy Warhol piece best illustrates a few potential work injuries. These are the not the typical back or neck injuries, or even broken arms, shoulders, rotator cuffs, etc.
Jumping Jacks are heavy. Operating one of these can cause work injuries. The standard in workers compensation is not whether the employee was negligent. Workers compensation is a system for compensating for workplace injuries regardless of the employee's negligence.
This is a foundation ready to pour. Lots of hard work excavating, rebaring it, and connecting in sewer lines. However, a dangerous work site if safety is not observed.
The lower portion of this Westchester wall was rebuilt in about an hour and half and significant structural upgrades were done to this post area and the framing in back. Had this not happened in the garage area of a serious mechanic, and had my building construction skills not existed this would not have transpired in the time it did including the stucco you can see I did.The rebuild process included treated lumber, anchors epoxied into the concrete slab, Simpson ties, and then a one step stucco coat. Although I wore a hard hat, I took it off temporarily while stuccoing and the garage door hit me on the head. The culprit, 70 year old rotten plywood, an unachored attempt to fix the damage area, and unanchored framing.Workers should always wear hard hats and only take on jobs they are skilled in. Otherwise, significant bodily injury may occur as well as improper building technique.
