2. When the employee showed her supervisor a doctor’s note prescribing a 10 pound lifting restriction the supervisor told the pregnant employee
3. she would have to learn how to do all types of work while pregnant or she would be a useless woman and her baby would be useless;
4. notwithstanding a doctor’s note the supervisor told the pregnant employee to throw out a piece of sweat bread and otherwise would not allow her to eat when she felt the need due to her pregnancy;
5. The supervisor asked who the father of the baby was and suggested the employee should not have the baby perhaps because she was not married;
6. repeat refusals to abide by pregnancy related lifting restrictions;
7. The supervisor said, "What is the point of you working if you won't be doing the work. If your baby gets miscarried, that's your problem;" 7) When she asked numerous supervisors if she could do her work while seated she was told she would have to wait for an answer;
8. A subordinate supervisor drew a zero and said that was what the pregnant employee was while she had pregnancy related work restrictions.

The above Los Angeles jury trial is an example of a case in which the employer refused to abide by pregnancy related medical restrictions. Because the case settled for a confidential sum after the jury found punitive damages, we cannot share its value.
